Kim and Jeremy in Thailand

So much to do...

The end of the school year is definitely in full swing here at Grace. Our calendar is quickly filling up with concerts, plays, award nights, etc. Over the weekend we had the staff appreciation dinner. It was a lot of fun to reminisce about the school year and all the things that have happened, but it was also sad to see all of the people (including us!) who are leaving at the end of the year.

In other news, we have another doctor's appointment today! It will be fun to hear our son's heartbeat again. Both of us are really starting to get big now!

More wildlife encounters

This morning we had one of Thailand's giant cane spiders crawling around our living room. These guys aren't dangerous (well, we didn't know that at the time) but they are BIG. You can see the spider crawling around our wall.

Jeremy ended up spraying it with bug spray until it died and could be whisked out of the house. To give you an idea on the size, here's a picture of the same type of spider next to a quarter. Not our favorite way to spend the morning!

May is here!

Can you believe it? In just six short weeks we'll be back in the USA...and there's so much to do before then!! We just had Family Fun Day yesterday, when all the kids and their parents (about 500 people!) were divided into 20 teams and competed in various carnival-type events, a lot of which were held in the pool. Despite the forcast of rain, it turned out to be a beautiful day and a lot of fun.

Our friend Paiboon was also here! He and his wife went to our church in St. Louis and helped us tremendously with Thai language and culture before we came. He was stopping through Chiang Mai while visiting for a few weeks, and came by the school yesterday. It was great to see him again! We were able to go out to lunch with him and a friend of his who is a pastor of a Thai church here in Chiang Mai. We had a nice time.

Other than that, we're starting on preparations for leaving-at this point, mostly just making lists of things that need to be done before we go, and thinking of things we'd like to buy. It's hard, because there are tons of things we'd like to bring back as gifts for people (and some things we'd like to have for our house!) but since our luggage allowance has gone down since we came, we're trying to keep things to a minimum. Plus, Jeremy and I will be travelling back separately, and I don't want to be too much of the burden on the people who I know will have to help me with my luggage!

Our latest houseguest

The other day, Jeremy brought his laundry upstairs. He hung up the first shirt and a frog jumped out. They were both pretty surprised to see each other. He hopped into the bathroom, and a few hours later, we discovered that he had moved in to the toilet. (Most logical place for a frog, I suppose.) Here's a picture of him:

Unfortunately, he was a bit camera-shy and immediately after that photo was taken, he flushed himself by swimming down the drain. We waited a few hours, thinking he'd come back, but he didn't. I hope he's not stuck in a pipe somewhere...

It's a boy!!!!

Our ultrasound went great!! We saw everything, and we have a healthy little boy!! He was so active-we got to watch him squirming around, and moving his arms and legs. We saw him sucking his thumb, and waving, and kicking, and turning-it was fascinating!! And we could even see the heart beating, the spine, and the parts of the brain. Wow!! It was the most amazing thing!! There are pictures up in the gallery-check it out!
