One week to go!

Tomorrow is graduation, and a week from today, we leave Chiang Mai. These last few weeks have really slipped by fast. As you might guess, we have a good-sized to do list before we go. It doesn't look overwhelming, though-I think we're going to have just the right amount of time. We've also got a list of the restaurants we want to eat at once more, the things we want to buy before we leave, etc.

It's crazy to think we're leaving already-I feel like in some ways we're just now catching on. But we are very excited to go back to America. We've already got our lists of American places we want to eat at, and I am so excited about going to Babies 'R' Us and testdriving a stroller!!

Wrapping up

Well, aside from some lingering grading to do, my teaching career is now over for the forseeable future. Final exams started yesterday and go through next Tuesday. Wednesday is the big day for the kids-class parties, clean out lockers, awards assembly, and graduation.

It's hard to believe that in less than two weeks, I'll be back on American soil. I'm excited, but it is sad to say goodbye to the kids. Still, there are things that remind me I'm happy to leave. Like the ants that were crawling all over my purse this morning. They liked my money, but ignored my gum-go figure.

There are so many things we want to see and do and buy before we go...I hope we can fit it all in!

Snake wrangling

Yesterday I got bitten by a snake. We were at school about 6:00 to help with the band concert that was starting at 7:00. A few of the kids were arriving to warm up, and one of the girls came up to me in a mild state of panic.

"Mrs. Weatherford! There's a snake in the hallway!!"

I asked her to show me where it was. She stopped about 20 feet away from it, but we were close enough to point. It was just a little guy; maybe 8 inches long and pretty thin. I picked him up behind the head, but he was so little he wriggled out of my grasp, reached around, and bit me on the finger!! Well, that just made me more determined to get the little bugger out of the school. I took him outside and put him down, but not before he bit me a few more times. The bites had hardly hurt at all, but as I was heading to get my camera I noticed my hand was bleeding quite a bit. Apparently tiny fangs can still poke pretty deep. Don't worry-I still have all my fingers intact. I'm just disappointed I wasn't able to get any pictures!

Glorious weather

There is a typhoon somewhere up near Hong Kong this week, which has meant some rain and beautiful temperatures for us!! Instead of 100+, it's been in the 70s. We're all in sweaters and sweatshirts, but loving it!

It's hard to believe the end of May is nearly here already. I feel like we're just starting to figure out our way around, and what we're doing...it's sad to be leaving when we keep hearing about planning for next year and it sounds so exciting. We're happy about going back to America and seeing all our family and friends, but we are really going to miss people here too. I wonder if there's any way we could get out here for a visit...

Happy Anniversary To Us!

Almost, anyway!! The 15th is our 2 year anniversary. To celebrate, we had friends over last night to watch our wedding video and play some games. We also bought ourselves some Thai accessories that kinda match our dished at home (like a serving bowl with elephants on it, and some small platters shaped like orchids). And tonight we're taking ourselves out to dinner. It's hard to believe that a) it's been two years! and b) this is the last time for awhile we can celebrate without needing a babysitter!
