Loy Krathong is one of the two largest festivals in Thailand. It is celebrated by creating beautiful krathongs, made of flowers, banana leaves, & candles to float down the river. Also, there are giant lanterns to send off into the sky, and a lot of fireworks. It was originally an offering to 'Mother River' to atone for the pollution of the water, but now it seems that most Thais see little spiritual significance in the celebration.
