Kitchen appliances are a little different here in Thailand. This is an oven. They stand by themselves, and are not that common here. Baking isn't a popular Thai thing. The oven runs on a bottle of gas, but here we were, trying to figure out how on earth to light the pilot on the thing. Eventually, we did get it figured out.

We do have Starbuck's here in Thailand, which I believe has been a major recruiting tool for some new teachers. This is Krista. She teaches 8th grade here at Grace and she gets VERY excited about her coffee!

One of my favorite places here is the Pizza Company. The pizza is actually really good, and it's a special treat when we go.

Not all pizza in Thailand is quite as good. This is an add for Pizza Hut, and I have no idea what that is on the pizza.

This is one of my favorite fruits here in Thailand. It's called a pomelo in english, or sohm-o in Thai. It's a huge fruit, usually 8-10" in diameter, and it tastes similar to a grapefruit, only sweeter.

Pomelo is a very labor-intensive fruit to prepare, so many grocery stores will sell it packaged like this, ready to eat.

There are two McDonald's here in Chiang Mai. It's neat to see the cultural differences. For example, here Ronald McDonald is performing a wai, which is the Thai greeting, equivalent to shaking hands.
